NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Harwood Feffer LLP (www.hfesq.com) is investigating potential claims against the board of directors of Sequenom Inc. ("Sequenom" or the "Company") (NASDAQ: SQNM) concerning whether the board has breached its fiduciary duties to shareholders.

On July 24, 2013, the Company disclosed its financial results for the third quarter of 2013.  Although it reported a 91% increase in total revenues for the quarter, it also reported a net loss of $31 million, compared to a net loss for the same period during the previous year of $29.6 million.  According to the Company, it suffered from delays in collecting payments as a result of certain medical coding changes.  However, many of these entities had yet to implement the new codes.

Our investigation concerns whether the Company board of directors has breached its fiduciary duties to shareholders, grossly mismanaged the Company, and/or committed abuses of control in connection with the foregoing.
